Another of Four Letter Word's shows at uni melb, this one in a similar vein to the Scarlet Sun from the previous year. The majority of the set was the three houses backgrounds, with 1 flat and 1 door each.
The main event for me however was making a coffin (ok a casket, but let's not split hairs)
I started with a plywood box, making a frame from decking pine and leftover plywood, which i affixed mdf panels to.
Here's the finished coffin in the show. I lined it with some EVA foam and green faux satin along with some kmart pillows. It is one of my proudest features to date, and I reused it for a funeral I held for myself.
Poor picture of the coffin but the three houses are in good view
I also had to make a bathtub and changing screen. To save costs, the screen was just four sheets of ply hinged together, and the bathtub was two sheets of mdf I Jigsawed into the shape of a bath. It was only a flat but it was quite effective at conveying the necessary information.
Almost forgot I also had to make a roulette wheel and Mirror. The roulette wheel I banged out in a few hours a day or two before the show and I'm quite proud of it considering. I trimmed a square of ply into a circle with the table saw and taped it up to paint, just quickly slopping black and red and white with a heat gun to dry it.
If you zoom in here you can see the mirror. It is just a butted frame with a reflective piece of cardstock I had lying around. cheap quick and simple.
