Written by Jakob Schuster and Finn Corr, I was/am the head of the set department for this modern adaptation of the Shakespeare play. Work Completed by me and my team, consisting of Juliana Neild, Kezia Collishaw, Sarah Steve and Lachlan Jones, to designs I ideated based on the briefs of the directors.
The early form of the couch. I acquired an old Ikea couch for free, floated it on a wooden frame and added wheels, and a wooden platform behind it. The platform now features a backdrop for a secondary location, featuring a graffiti wall and skate park rail.
The Skeleton of the 'Windoor', a double sided centre stage set piece, a set of stairs leading up to a front door on wide side, a window interior/exterior on the other side. Made from pine timber and plywood, with 4 heavy duty load bearing lockable wheels, this set piece prioritises the key needs of safety for actors and movability, without sacrificing looks. Designed to come apart easily for transport into a set of stairs and a door frame, it only requires the tightening of 6 nuts/bolts to be finished. At 120cm wide, 110 long, and 260 high, it offers an imposing and tone setting presence on the stage.
Featuring an interior (Left) of a teenagers bedroom window, the posters are double sided in order to be flipped around to create a living room space, with family photos on the other side, or can be removed entirely to create an exterior looking window. The exterior (Right) is the front door of a house, made to look like a brick wall, it faces the staircase side, hence the missing lower section.
